Poetry is an art of literature with personal touch. It could be an introvert’s heart’s musings, but never too loud for exasperation. That’s why it is the finest form of expression and gives sheer delight to its beholder and readers. The ultimate purpose of poetry is to express love for person, feelings of hearts, appreciating nature’s bountiful beauty, anger against something, or could be relaying messages.
Several poets confer in their innate poetic narrative to tell-tale life journey along with main events that affected their tenacity and the world around them. I have been reading many modern contemporary poets that are expressing their lives’ experiences and ordeals and memories through poetry. My latest pick was Pravin Sankhwar, offbeat yet incredible.
He has two poetry collections to his names. In his first book, Vision is Deep High Illusion, he recounts his days of younger life, adulthood, youth, love equation for a life partner, friendship dilemmas, and professional attachments with his job. The poems capture the restlessness of a young mind that he was so desperate to make everything right and on time. This is quite common among young people, mostly the new generation. However with time, we settle down and look to appreciate the time and nature around us. The first book is expressive about his efforts as a college student, life in job, quest for love, friendship equations, and much more. The theme of life is rich in this collection. This book expresses the vividness of a young guy.
In his next book (New In Your Aspiration) which he wrote after a decade, I found him a changed personality. Most likely, age with its own idiosyncratic experiences must have altered his perception towards many aspects of life. His family inspired him for life lessons that otherwise remain distant from him. Evidently, with time one becomes pensive and that is the time when one looks for life around him and that way one confronts nature and its imitations in our life. This book has just 10 short poems, unlike the first book that houses around 50 strong evocative poems. The second book is about our tenacity to nature and god. He passes on the message that God and Nature gives everything to man for his basic needs and higher purpose of aspiration. However, the greed of man never ceases.
A close examination through both books of the same author reinstates the fact that we are bound to change in thinking, observation, and appreciation of life. Interestingly, purpose and intention of our heart and mind change with time, needs, and societal parameters – thus change is permanent.
