By Nadeera Dickwella
When I cried you consoled me.
When I was angry
You calmed me down.
When I was mischievous
You tolerated me.
When I grew old
Mighty and big,
When I was able and ready
To look after you,
You had already gone.
Gone to a place that is unknown.
Leaving fond memories of
Your kindness,
And what you taught me.
Your scent is still in my memory
My dearest Grandma,
The second mother to me.
Your love is eternal
For I cherish every day.
