My Tiny Chaotic Universe by Jithu Biji Thomas, as the name says is…it could be any random ranting in the mind and the heart of the author. Could turn out a dreamland of possibilities and uncanny observations! Jithu posits that every speck has a story to tell in our universe, but are you up for that. In this book, Jithu shares about how we seek for solace, hunt for happiness in chaos…that basically forms the major thinking part of our consciousness and back mind.
The book is a collection of 53 deep and mesmerizing poems that will give us new perspectives about our existence and how fast we adapt and change to the tunes of life. The poems are at times funny but never leave their ironic grins with a tinge of reality. In Jithu Biji Thomas’ illustrated short poems you get to see the alternate side of the reality of the world. Under the silhouettes of culture and customs and advancements, no one touches upon the base points that require re-instatement of renaissance.
Each poem here has a story to share…and the preceded illustration beautifully expresses that. The poems are not-so-intense, but deep and thought-provoking, making you wonder how our heart still sees the moral mess of the world, the comical side amidst everything. How we look for hope, love and things to get better. These poems reflect the shades of life and a plethora of keen annotations.
The writing style of the author is rich and delightful, giving readers a beautiful reading experience. Falling in Love with a Song is one of my favourite poems along with the Forgiveness, The Gift which Came Late, and The Most Beautiful Time.
Loved the way Jithu contemplated and then penned each poem. Some are longer than usual but the way he described sentiments is something I loved the most.
Here readers will witness the answers to questions like what is the value of human life, what does it mean to discover a story in broad story of life events? To live, to grow and to forge relations, what is our existence?
“Life is sometimes about the sleek wind,
That blows on the hottest day.”
‘A paper that worthed
Less than a penny
Was needed to remind her that
Her apartment was on the
earth and not in the heavens.’
There are poems on family, relationships, love, loss, closure, nature and many others. Overall, It’s a great, refreshing and riveting read that you can count on if you love reading poetry.
