Vizag Blue by Anil CS Rao: Artwork does the Storytelling

Reading graphic comic books is always a delightful experience, least to care about the story, most of the time we are all in due to its quality of impressive artwork. Spacious layout of chilling images, bubbling dialogues between characters, action in picture – truly a heartwarming feel!!

If there has to be one big reason to remember Anil CS Rao’s Vizag Blue – it will be its chilling images and colour scheme exuding a captivating yet dark and sinister feel. The author is an expert in graphic illustrations. All his books have been praised for the artwork.

He did a fabulous job of rolling out a psychological thriller with a handful of character, with women leading the landscape. Not a dull moment…many a time silence pervades, no content, no word…yet the business of both women through images was evident at par with standards. The story is really hitting a stride. Suspense and the urge to see the revelations divulged by both women is the excitement that culminates throughout the story. The story ends on cliffhanger note, for readers they will be waiting for the next part.

View on the Story:

The story sizzles between two ladies: Kalpana and her nurse Usha. Kalpana has turned silent due to some unknown personal reasons. She is fit but Usha has the task to actuate and incite her for conversation. Usha does all the talking…confides in her…but to no avail. The story is not straight, it tries to study some dark aspects of a woman who all of sudden gone silent and for what reasons and that needs to be discovered by readers intuition. Yet the novella stands firm with its expressive plotline.

View on Cover page and Art:

The cover is simple but dark. In fact, the author did not play against many schemes of colour, since the book has a dark and silent theme where one of the characters gone mute, thus, the illustrations do the much work of talking than the actual dialogue bubbles. Despite all, the book impresses with its artwork, it will surely revoke your old days of reading comic stories in books like Readers Digest.

Final Verdict:

The story is complex with intriguing characterization of Kalpana and the nurse Usha. Yet the story scores maximum in the thriller genre and the art was amazing, almost flawless. You will be able to distinguish between the characters and their peculiar tenacity. However, this book is strictly for adult and matured readers for the bold dressing portrayal of women at a summer house and looks a little provocative, if not offbeat.
