War – Gaza – Humanity

By Dhanuka Dickwella . Photo credit – AFSC

Western Bombs

Eastern Bombs

Arabic Bombs

The Israeli Bombs

They all are bad Bombs

Rips the limbs

Kills the dreams

Shatters the wills

Flattens the hills

Sighs of Pain and oozing blood

Blazing guns and roaring planes

Skies turned dark – the soil in red

Fires in Levant – the fires of hell

Khaled, Ali and Amal- Hassan

Levi, Asher and Issac-Elias

Armed to the teeth in vengeance minds

Looked for justice – retribution style

Innocent Lives of innocent souls

Not spared to live their lives

Hatred , anger , ego and greed

Levant burns in a cauldron of blood.

  1. This poignant poem addresses a universal truth with heartfelt emotion. It speaks of the devastation caused by conflicts, regardless of their origin, and vividly portrays the pain and suffering that follows. The poem’s imagery and the contrast between names from different backgrounds emphasize the commonality of suffering. The call for justice and the depiction of innocent lives lost are moving reminders of the need for peace and compassion in a world torn by conflict. Dhanuka’s ability to capture these emotions is truly commendable.

  2. Well composed,… Millions of innocent people are paying the price for wrong decisions made by few people…. This is called politics…

    • Well worded timely piece. In a era where their cries, agonies echoes in our ears, and see the pain of the oppressed, but physically helpless to save a life. Raised Voices and written words are the only weapons, the power we can use against the oppressors…you have managed to raise some eyebrows Nadeera. Good luck.
