Montreal the Unfaithful Lover

By Dhanuka Dickwella . ( Photo by Shawn Dearn on Unsplash )

Monday –  the day of the moon

You were  warm and loving

Kissed me and embraced me with your warmth

The warmth I crave for – The warmth I love the most

Tuesday – the day of wars

You covered your self

With a white blanket

Not showing your face

The one that I love to see

No smile nor tears – Yet I felt fear

Wednesday – the day of eloquence

You cried so much

The whole day from dawn to dusk

Did I hurt you my love ?

I asked you a million times.

Not knowing why you cried – You never replied

Thursday the day of Thunder

You smiled like a full bloomed lily

Yet you denied me of a single word of love or care

Not a mere word

Why so cold my love – I asked you a zillion times

You had no answer

Friday – the day of love

I was losing my mind

Fears of not knowing  – Knowing whether you loved me

Or someone else

I asked you at the dawn

My love, have you given your heart

The precious symbol of our love – To another ?

Why treat me in ways worlds apart for I am hurt

This is who I am you said

The warm, the cold, the moody, the weeping, the giggling

Yet I am here for you my love faithfully as I can.

Ask yourself, you said

Possible to love me for me – or crush my heart for another ?

An answer I am yet to find

  1. This poem beautifully captures the emotional journey of a relationship throughout the week, using the days as metaphors. At first, I thought it was describing the Montreal daily weather, but as I delved deeper, I realized it cleverly symbolizes the ups and downs of love. The vivid imagery and emotional depth make it relatable, and the ending leaves room for introspection and self-discovery. Overall, it’s a thought-provoking piece that resonates with the complexities of human emotions and relationships. Aren’t we all a part of nature?; so we tend to behave as weather. Keep it up Dhanuka.
